The Smell of Glass - The Smell I See
The Smell I See presents a glass pane as an instrument for smelling. Hung vertically, the glass emphasizes its bodily presence and scale in relation to the viewer, inviting a physical and sensory encounter.
It is an enlargement of the glass I used for my own (imaginative) olfactory exploration, where I investigated which factors—such as light, environment, mood, and time of day—transform glass into smell. In this way, the work extends a my sensory experiment into the exhibition space, allowing viewers to engage with the material as an active site for imagined smells.
