Smell of Glass - My Need of Smell
My Need of Smell is a material metaphor for the necessity of olfaction.
The material fat visually suggests the smell of rancid grease, yet it is completely odorless. Glass, too, is generally considered as an odorless material; however, my olfactory imagination allows me to perceive glass as rich with odor.
The work plays with expectation, absence, and imagination, revealing how smell can be activated through other senses and imagination.
