[diffusion] leads you into your on imaginative smellspace, employing multisensory language and the embodied mind. The audio work is a smell instruction that allows to open the doors of the past and situate in the present through the imaginative potential of olfaction.

„Wichtiges Medium ist die Sprache; diese setzt sie [Lena Trost] gezielt und sparsam ein. Sie führt die Betrachterinnen und Hörerinnen, sie fordert auf und suggeriert subtil. Dies macht sie sowohl mittels Objekte, innerhalb performativer Glass Tastings und besonders in der Soundarbeit [diffusion]. Diese Arbeit, die nur über gesprochenen Text funktioniert, fordert die Hörer*in auf, an sich zu riechen, sich ganz auf die Geruchswahrnehmung zu konzentrieren.“ So trägt diese Arbeit auch den Titel diffusion: „Das Wort Diffusion wird sowohl für das Zerstäuben von Duftmolekülen als auch für die Projektion von Klang in einem Raum gebraucht (Xenia Mura-Fink)".

For an exhibition at AKM, Haus Metternich in Koblenz, I made use of the dominant architecture of the 1970s building and its given spatial conditions, integrating my works into what was already there: I translated the smelling instructions of [diffusion] into German and focussed on the conceptual act of smelling the own body. The empty wall opposite the armchair, where recipients could listen to the sound, was intentionally illuminated—the empty wall becomes frame and space for imaginative materialized olfactory experiences.
