This research investigates how different environments influence people’s ability to imagine smells. We are interested in how artistic and scientific contexts shape the vividness of olfactory imagination. The project introduces a method called “Glass Tastings”, where participants engage in a short-guided performance using the odorless material glass (“glass nose”) as a surface for imagined smells. By comparing a laboratory setting and an art space, we hope to better understand whether artistic contexts promote stronger olfactory imagination, and whether individuals with reduced sense of smell use other senses to support imagination.
